Einstein and the Kaluza - Klein particle

چکیده

In his search for a unified field theory that could undercut quantum mechanics, Einstein considered five dimensional classical Kaluza-Klein theory. He studied this theory most intensively during the years 1938-1943. One of his primary objectives was finding a non-singular particle solution. In the full theory this search got frustrated and in the x-independent theory Einstein, together with Pauli, argued it would be impossible to find these structures.

Einstein–Weyl from Kaluza–Klein

We discuss the Kaluza–Klein reduction of spaces with (anti-)self-dual Weyl tensor and point out the emergence of the Einstein–Weyl equations for the reduction from four to three dimensions. As a byproduct we get a simple expression for the gravitational instanton density in terms of the Kaluza–Klein functions. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Z ′ Signals from Kaluza - Klein Dark Matter

In a minimal model of universal extra dimensions the lightest Kalzua-Klein particle is neutral and stable because of Kaluza-Klein parity conservation and it is a dark matter candidate. The corresponding level 2 mode of the lightest Kaluza-Klein particle can be detected via KK number violating decays to Standard Model particles. The expected sensitivity to second level Kaluza-Klein modes of neut...

00 5 the Particle Problem in Classical Gravity a Historical Note on 1941

This historical note is mainly based on a relatively unknown paper published by Albert Einstein in Revista de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in 1941. Taking the ideas of this work as a leitmotiv, we review the discussions about the particle problem in the theory of gravitation within the historical context by means of the study of seminal works on the subject. The revision shows how the dig...
